Abaana Abaana

The word "Abaana" comes from a language found in the country of Uganda (East Africa) and means children.
The charity is run for the benefit of less privileged people, mainly geared toward children, in Uganda, ZImbabwe and Malawi.

Abaana was started in 1989 after it's founding member Scott Baxter returned from a trip to Uganda and saw first hand how children were becoming seriously ill and dying from drinking unclean water, a luxury we take for granted.  It was out of these experiences that Abaana has grown to encouraging people that through sacrificing a little time and money they can be a big part of a massive difference to others.

Abaana has funded the building of many schools to help to train the future doctors, nurses, farmers and leaders.  However without a safe and clean water supply at each of these schools, many children were still missing out on attending school.  By drinking water from unclean sources many children become sick or have to spend a long time collecting water from a distant source.  Building a water well at each school ensures a safe and secure source of clean water for the pupils and furthermore the surrounding community will also be able to use the water source.
